You ever use these things? I don’t know what is about them, but I’ve always loved them. I’m not a carpenter, so I’ve never had an express need to use them, but my Pop Pop was a carpentry god, and he always had them laying around. Maybe I just love them because they remind me of him, and “helping” him in his workshop as a kid.
I know that they’re flat so that won’t roll away. But when I was little, Pop Pop told me that they’re shaped like that so that they fit behind your ear easily. Only when thinking about how much I enjoy using these pencils and getting ready to do this writeup did that memory come back to me, and now I realize he was just messing with me.
I feel like that’s a common thing, now that I think about it. Tell some goofy lie and mess with kids, just because you can, and it doesn’t hurt anything. I can’t wait until I’m an old man and tell all the little children goofy stuff for my own amusement.
It reminds me of that classic Calvin and Hobbes comic where Calvin’s dad explains that black and white pictures are like that because the WORLD was actually in black and white back then.
Anyways, carpenter’s pencils are awesome.
