While Protest the Hero straddles that thin line between metal and progressive rock, I think this song is a worthy inclusion.
We have a bunch of metal staples here, including sudden rhythm changes, discordant riffs, and extremely melodic interludes.
The guitars are supremely talented, and come up with these great riffs in odd time signatures that never feel forced. As a result, they’re fun to nod along with and drum on your steering wheel.
This song originally has vocals on it, but thankfully the band releases cuts without them. Thank goodness, because their vocalist is by the worst part of the band. They should just be an instrumental band.
