Well, we can’t get through Metal March without talking about the modern face of progressive math metal, Polyphia.
An instrumental 4 piece of extremely talented musicians, they make some really fun tunes to listen to. Complex riffs somehow manage to be catchy instead of putting off more casual listeners.
Their drummer does a great job of underscoring the riff work with awesome multi-measure-spanning fills that add some nice flavor while, again, keeping the music listenable for the people who aren’t there to jerk off over hearing some crazy 27/4 time signature stuff just for the sake of it.
This is a song that a lot of people know, so it’s a great introduction.
