Me and my friends were lucky enough to have stumbled upon Adult Swim way way back when it first started. Ah, the glorious old “seniors in the pool” commercial bumps, Space Ghost, Home Movies, and of course, starting in December of 2000, the now-legendary Aqua Teen Hunger Force.
ATHF is definitely one of the most batshit insane cartoons to ever reach a wide audience. I couldn’t have imagined that 3 fast food items having bizarre 10-minute adventures in South Jersey would be able to break through into pop culture, yet here we are, and I couldn’t be happier.
Neighbor Carl is without a doubt of the best characters on the show, voiced with god-given talent by Dave Willis, who also does Meatwad. Carl consistently gets some of the most amazing lines in the show, and is probably my favorite character in ATHF.
There are so many incredible returning characters, like the Plutonians, the Mooninites, and too many more to count.
It’s amazing that this show keeps popping back up every few years after various hiatuses, and if you haven’t seen it, you should.
