James Rolfe, aka the Angry Video Game Nerd, is a goddamned legend. One of the first viral content creators – something that happened entirely by accident when some friends shared his original review tape that he made just to make them laugh – he has gone on to have a long career which continues to this day. Something I’m incredibly thankful for.
Not only does he still play the AVGN character for the amusement of us lifelong loyal friends, but he has also expanded the channel to include movie reviews, retrospectives, and more. And my god, are his movie and movie series reviews incredible. James is a filmmaker, and his love of cinema is absolutely contagious.
Some of favorites are for October, since James loves horror. If you check his cinemassacre channel, you can find full series reviews of Halloween, Friday the 13th, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Nightmare on Elm Street, and more. Those halloween season reviews are amazing, and just so goddamned enjoyable to listen to. I put them on often in the background when I’m making dinner or doing dishes.
AVGN is a creator who is absolutely worth watching, so I hope everyone out there enjoys some shitty games!
