Scott Adkins is a great martial artist who has never quite gotten the break he deserves. He’s definitely a hard worker, and from every interview I’ve ever seen with his fellow actors, he seems to be a genuinely nice guy who gives his all in every role. That said, as amazing as he is, and as much as I love him, he just doesn’t seem to have the same charisma as some of his fellow action stars. My guess is that that is what has kept him in more B-movie territory.
That said, the guy is always working, and while his movies may not all be masterpieces, his fights sure are. He’s perfect for youtube highlights.
One of his best movies is probably Undisputed, which starts of starring Michael Jai White, and but ends up transitioning into being about Adkins. He puts on a LOT of weight for that role, being insanely jacked to the point that I didn’t recognize him. I saw in interviews that he said that the extra muscle is difficult to work with though, as it slows him down and makes it harder to be acrobatic.
You could definitely start with the Undisputed films if you’re looking for a fun action flick, but honestly you can’t go wrong with ANY Adkins. Give this guy a look if you’ve never heard of him.
