What is there to say about Meshuggah? They’re the fathers and innovators of what the kids today jokingly call the “non-exist” DJENT genre.
They’re known for their insane polyrhythms, and for good reason. The level of rhythmic complexity in these songs is ridiculous. I’m a pretty damn good musician, and it can take me a dozen or more listens sometimes to really get down the intricate patterns used in these metal compositions.
While they’re known for having very discordant music, I specifically picked this track because the entire second half is insanely melodic. WHY DONT THEY MAKE MORE TUNES LIKE THIS? It clearly proves that they’re compositionally capable of creating extremely heavy but still beautiful melodies. I really, really wish they did more tunes like this!
