Skkra recommends… records!

Since physical media is king again in my mind, lets talk music.

Records have made a huge comeback over the past decade or so, and having recently gotten back into collecting them myself, I can affirm that it’s a total blast.

There is something really nice about having the physical album, and getting to enjoy the big bold cover art that used to be a main part of collecting music.

I literally won’t buy music anymore unless it’s on vinyl – I’m all in on building up a huge collection. I’ve been starting my picking up all of my favorite classics on vinyl: soul coughing, nirvana, foo fighters, garbage, and plenty more epic 90s albums.

Some of these unfortunately do not have recent pressing and are fairly rare, and are thus quite expensive. I haven’t been chasing these down quite yet, as $200+ for a single album is a little rich for my taste at the moment.

The one final thing I’ll mention is that I find I actually LISTEN to the music more when I’m throwing on album. When you’re listening to MP3s or streaming, it’s easy to just skip through music. When you put a record on, you just put it on and really listen to the entire thing, letting it play in its entirety. Listening to vinyl has really increased my enjoyment of listening to the music again as of late.
